Get set Go or Let it go W7 Eyeshadow Base? - Review

There are times when you just pick up stuff of the counter without any reason, you neither need it nor want it but you still get it, just like that. I do shopping like that at times, not much but sometimes. Mostly the products are good enough to be kept but there are misses too.  Today I bring you a detailed review and comparison of W7 eye shadow base. Was this impulse buy a hit or a miss? Keep on reading.

W7 Get Set Eyeshdow Base :

Apply this eyeshadow primer to give a more intense and lasting result. Apply a small amount of primer on your eyelid before applying eye shadow, this preventing your eye shadow smudging along with allowing for a more vibrant and intense color throughout the day.

My Experience:

When w7 products made their way to the market, thanks to Beautified.pk, I had a chance to look at the things personally and pick up stuff myself.  With some purchases, I got this baby on a whim, as it looked so much like NYX eye shadow  base which, by the way by , has pretty good reviews.
Looking at the packaging, it comes in a plastic, screw top jar which secures nicely. The product color and description is printed at the sides of the jar. The quality of the plastic is pretty sturdy and doesn't feel cheap at all which makes its less prone to damage.

W7 Eyeshadow Base -White

The W7 eye shadow base comes in 3 shades, white, pearl white  and Natural.  I opted for white because I wanted a replacement for my much beloved NYX jumbo pencil in Milk.
Now to the product it self. The eye shadow base is supposed to neutralize the color of the lids and make the colors show in their full vibrancy, make them stay put for longer duration and doesn't budge. The formula of this eye shadow base is not something i am a fan of.  It is a bit too greasy for my liking. When I swatched it on the shop, the formula looked pretty decent in terms of consistency.  May be it was a tester and got open too often so it was a bit dry.  My new one is a tad too greasy. The consistency is  soft and creamy and applies smoothly without tugging the lids. It blends well and kind of sheers out if blended too much which needs layering, which means it well get more greasy and heavy. I gave it pretty decent time to settle and dry but it was of no use, sadly. After eye shadow application, you will see since its kind of oily, the amount of shadow being put will be a lot more as compared to other eye shadow bases (comparison will be done below) and doesn't blend well either. So All in all, I am pretty much disappointed with W7 eye shadow base.

Swatch :

Comparison :

I have compared the W7 eye shadow base with my much beloved NYX jumbo pencil in Milk and a local find Becute Eye pencil in BC-02 that were my previous most used eye shadow bases.  Here is a comparison of all three of them followed by swatches.
W7 Eyeshadow Base -White Comapred to Nyx Jumbo  Pencil & Becute Eye Pencil

Comparison Swatches:

Comparison swatches ( Indoor Light with Flash)

Comparison Swatches (Outdoor /sunlight without flash)

As you can see in the swatches the W7 eye shadow base gives that greasy sheen while NYX  jumbo pencil has that smooth velvety finish and becute one is on the the dry side. More over, the eye shadow has a fall out over the W7 eye shadow Base while nyx keeps the eye shadow well in place.

Thumbs Up for:

  • Absolutely nothing, not recommended at all.

Thumbs down for :

  • Greasy formula
  • Creases
  • Doesn't keep the eye shadow put
  • Sheers when blended
  • Needs more amount of eye shadow to build the color.

My Rating :

I would give it a 1/5.  Totally not recommended.  Its one of the total product fails of mine as I had high hopes for this one

Price & Availability :

The W7 Get set Eyeshadow base is available at Beautified.pk for PKR : 645/-  in 3 shades. You can also buy this from their outlet if you are in Lahore.
For international readers , W7 cosmetics are available at their website HERE.

I hope you this might be of help to you guys regarding the choice to make for an eyeshadow base.If you have any other query , Please feel free to ask in the comments below.

September & October Favorites

Sorry for being mia for past 2 months for it has been crazy as hell in those months with everything just piling up and me being mostly unable to do any of it.  Plus the writers block made me go nuts! I kept  opening the blogger, stare it for an hour or, not even writing a word and then closing everything to go to sleep. Yup, that's what's been happening and finally its over (hopefully)  because I am writing like a hysteric here right now :-D

So the last post, that was in September was a favorites post and so is this one.  I have compiled a list of stuff I loved using these past 2 months and to be honest it isn't much long.  I was expecting it to be quite  a few products because there was no Shoppers block :-P.
Enough with the ranting and here comes the list!

1. Labello Soft Rose Lip Balm:

This little pinky was picked up with the grocery at the checkout counter without any thoughts because my lips were chipped like anything and I just needed something for them.  But this one is a keeper for sure!  Its kind of thick but its good because it stays on for a long long while and keeps my ever chipped lips hydrated.

2. Jordana 12 Hr Made to Last Eyeshadow Pencil - Prolong Purple:

Last month I had this one in my mail to review and, why lie, I didn't use it much. But when I finally used it to line my lower lash line, which is my favorite thing to do,  this one lasted for 18 hours straight.  I  was like woaaahhhh you still there??  I love it  to bits.  I am determined to get the emerald green soon in this one!

3.ELF Mist & Set Makeup Setting Spray :

Not that I have a set rules to do makeup or even setting it afterwards isn't a must pointer for me, but still I have this setting spray well placed on my dresser.  Reason: this baby is a keeper. Whenever I have used it, it has never failed me. Just one or two spritz and all your makeup is locked and has a perfectly soft finish!  Added to the list of favorites this months after using it for than a year!

4.  SHE Is from Istanbul Body Spray:

I have always been a fan of SHE  body sprays and an avid user. After trying a few from other brands, I came back  to these.  Recently they have introduced these new Travellers Editions in the previous SHE IS  line and I  must say what exotic fragrances these are! Not that I am much of a fragrance peculiar person but these just got me loving them!  If you like to keep trying, I would suggest you try this one this time.

5. Double Sided Pearl Studs:

There has been quite a rage of Dior pearl studs but I am usually late when it comes to following trends,  I am lazy no other reason.  I got these beautiful double pearl studs as a gift from a beautiful fellow blogger cum friend Huda and girl you got me hooked!  I have been wearing them everywhere everyday!! These are definitely my favorites and will stay on the list for a while to be honest.  Get a pair and trust me praises will be on your way!

Here is a very short list of what I loved lately in past 2 months.  I hope I stay regular from this month on wards and review all the stuff I have lined up for reviews. If you have any questions regarding the above products or need an urgent review, feel free to ask me!
